Status: On Hold
Of course, I just had to get a 3G phone so I could surf the 'net and play with Java games and applications on my cell phone (as if I really need to telnet from my cell phone). In order to learn more about how 3G networks work and to get an opportunity to play with XHTML-Mobile Profile I am building a web site for people that use Sprint PCS to download ringtones, screensavers and Java applications to their Sprint handsets. Once the site is running, users will be able to upload and store custom ringtones/screensavers/etc in a personal folder and download them at will. There will also be an area for users to store downloads available to the public.
The working prototype (well, working most of the time) is available by clicking here. The prototype is written in PHP, and now only works on desktop browsers. The final version will probably be written in Java/JSP utilizing Struts and XSLT to handle the page displays for both desktop browsers and cell phones.
