For some reason I could only see about half of the post. Is this something on my end or was this on purpose as a teaser?

So I am very interested in joining or at least meeting with freemasons in my area. I have sent a few emails to local lodges to ask for an interview or meeting... Is this the proper steps if I am interested?? I dont formally know anyone who is a mason but have studied the history and believe in the ideals.

Thanks!

I am not a mason yet of any degree. Last week I went to the local lodge to inquire about joining and was invited to have a meal with them. I had zero cash as my daughter had just drained my wallet moments before and was told that didn't matter. One of the best experiences of my life! I have never felt more welcome anywhere. Petitions are signed and mailed, can't wait until the next step! Why didn't I do this years ago? Thank you future brothers.

If I am understanding this post correctly, then I must say that I am in total shock at the speed with which these degrees are being passed out. In our Lodge one day courses or reading of rituals are forbidden. My FC memory work was 3 months and another 4 for my MM and I will likely not having my proving up memorized to my mentor and coaches approval for a few more months. This is pretty standard timing throughout the Grand Lodge of BC/Yukon. I think if some lodges are electing to 'fast track' degrees that it somewhat diminishes the hard earned accomplishments of others. To go from MM to 32nd in a month is absolutely unconscionable. There is no possible human way that anyone could learn all of the various rituals within all these degrees within a year let alone a single month. If this is in fact happening, then it must be stopped or Freemasonry may as well just cease to be. What is the point of selective membership, investigations, moral fibre and community leadership if there are Lodges practically shooting degrees out of printers? It not only diminishes the whole but smacks highly of hypocrisy.

I have noticed these things also. They are actually everywhere we look. I find some of the somments made by "spiratualists" funny and others completely obsurd. You can find the Square & Compasses and knights Templar signs everywhere. Do I think they were put there on purpose... Absolutely. I am happy and pround when I recognize them, and hope our Brothers continue to remind us of our obligations wherever possible.
